Port Operations Feasibility for the 1982 Model

Port Operations Feasibility

Port Operations Feasibility for the 1982 Model

Very little is known on the background of this document other than it was found in the files that came from the Quality Assurance Center in Santa Ana during the auction of the office equipment and furniture.

It is interesting in that it places actual dollar figures on the cost of the Quality Assurance Center operations (at least the West Coast QAC) of approximately $66,000 per month.

We do know that the General Manager of the QAC, Joe Black, was tasked with attempting to outsource the operations of preparing the cars for shipment to dealers.  It's shown in the document that Mr. Black recommended keeping this process within DMC, based on cost, the likelihood of less quality with an outside contractor and the fact that the factory build quality was not yet high enough to allow the monor adjustments normally provided by an outside "port operation" or prep center.
