Dealer Sales Agreement
Donated by DeLorean Motor Company (Texas)
The eleven page “Direct Dealer Sales Agreement” was the actual contract between the dealer and DMC. It outlines the obligations and rights of both parties, and specifies a number of DeLorean cars (varied by dealer and market) that the dealer agreed to buy for re-sale. When the company boasted of having the first two years of production already sold, this is where that oft-quoted statement originated. In reality, DMC was unable to force dealers to buy cars that they couldn’t afford or didn’t want, so this statement was rather hollow.
