The Museum is a 100% volunteer-run organization - we have no paid staff. Most volunteers are DeLorean owners or enthusiasts, and the DeLorean Motor Company (Texas) provides storage space, computers, and donates time for accounting, order fulfillment and more.

document archives - originals or copies - we want them!
The DeLorean community has been fortunate that a significant amount of DeLorean history - in the form of artifacts, documents, and both written and oral accounts - has been saved. All of the documents that are available on this site exist as the result of someone believing that they were worth saving. Many of the files of the DeLorean Motor Company in the USA were seized as part of the bankruptcy proceedings in 1982/1983. When the bankruptcy was finalized nearly 20 years later in 2000, one of the final "assets" of company - thousands upon thousands of files from the DeLorean Motor Company were sold as a lot to a private party. This private party, for years now, has been slowly dribbling them out on eBay for sale.
Therefore, it has been a double-edged sword - many of the important documents of the company have survived, but as a result of this seller, they have and continue to be scattered across the globe to the highest bidder. The Museum is already of aware of some documents, that over the last decade or so, have been trashed in marital disputes, lost in moves, and destroyed by house fires.
The Museum does not have the budget to acquire even a fraction of these items from this seller, so we took the position that so long as it remains a "seller's market" for these items, the Museum would focus on acquiring copies or scans of these documents to preserve them in a central location for all to view, learn from, and enjoy. If you have been fortunate enough to acquire - from any source - documents relating to or from the DeLorean Motor Company, please consider providing scans or copies to the Museum, much as others have done. Contact us for details.

VOLUNTEER TO HELP - WE WANT YOU!
Right now, our most pressing need is for a web database coder, who can help use create a more user-friendly index to all of our documents. We have a general specification of what we have in mind, and would like to talk with qualified and interested programmers. Compensation is minimal, gratitude enormous, fame within the DeLorean community a near certainty. Contact us if interested in knowing more.
