From the earliest days at Lotus, and later at suppliers and then at DMCL, thousands of drawings and revisions were created for all the parts used on the DeLorean car. Everything from wheels, stainless panels and even nuts, bolts and washers were drawn out. Nearly all of them were drawn by hand, pencil on paper, as the computer aided drafting/design technology simply did not exist as we know it today. Some of the more elaborate drawings could be considered works of art and suitable for framing.
DeLorean Motor Company (Texas) has a set of copies of these original drawings, as well as a set of aperture card copies. One set of original drawings is known to exist in a private collection, spirited away from DMC when the factory closed for good in 1983.
